My book has slightly changed; it talks more now through the eyes of Antwone. He speaks of how he obeys Mrs. Pickett, his foster mom, even when she smacks him or makes him clean. The book is getting more interesting since he describes more about his home life. He also explains how the nanny molests him, which really stands out to me. That would really mess somebody up for the rest of their lives
My views haven't really changed, I'm sure they will though when he gets older. Right now, I'd say he already possesses leadership qualities; they're shown when he obeys Mrs. Pickett when he is supposed to, even if he doesn't want to.
Similar situations have happened to many people. There will be a teacher or someone who you don't want to respect and don't agree with and would rather argue back, but you know you have to anyway for the sake of the class. Whenever I'm in that position, which used to be daily, sometimes, I just have to suck it up and be a respectful student because it gets me farther- if I sit there and complain, I'm just going to get in more trouble and I'd learn nothing from being disrespectful to someone.
p48
"I'm not sleepy, but I've learned better than to say it, so I obey quickly, replying, "Yes ma'am," going upstairs, and curling up in the army cot I share with Dwight."

Your book sounds really interesting! what's it called? and what is the main idea? I can relate to having to respect someone when I truly don't want to. I admire this poor little boy for sticking it out. It would be very easy in that situation to explode and fight back but because he kept his cool it will pay off in the long run.
